LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2012

LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kazakhstan Geographic Society has signed on as a platinum sponsor of the second annual "Kazakhstan: Montage of Cinemas - Film & Cultural Festival" scheduled to launch Aug. 3 at the Directors Guild of America (DGA) in Los Angeles. A one-week celebration of Kazakh cinema and culture, including musicians, the festival is a stellar opportunity for directors, producers, location scouts, and the general public to get an understanding and appreciation of this exotic locale without leaving home. Among the opportunities to learn the region through cinema, the Kazakhstan Geographic Society (www.KazGeo.kz) will shine a spotlight on this scenic gem.

The Society was founded in 2010 by Nurlan Abduov and his like-minded colleagues. Under his leadership, KazGeo established Kazakhstan Geographic Society and conducted Kazakhstan's first-ever expedition to the South Pole on the 100th anniversary of Roald Amundsen's discovery of the earth's southernmost tip. Kazakh's national expedition also landed in the Guinness Book of Records.

KazGeo, along with U.S.-based Mount Helix Films, will sponsor "Kazakhstan: Montage of Cinemas," an integral part of this year's festival. This unique event continues building a foundation for US/Kazakh joint production in films, music, and other visual and performing arts media.

Where East meets West, building the Kazakh nation has resulted in a comprehensive expansion in its traditions, updated customs and societal mores.  The area itself holds an important place in Eurasia's history as part of the Silk Road.  Kazakhstan is a major cultural inheritor of contributions made by ancient ethnic groups who participated in mass movements of goods and labor that built empires.

Today, Kazakh daily life is woven from many cultural perspectives - native Kazakh, Russian, Asian, German, and more - which co-exist and thrive in a multinational, inter-faith cohesion that is Kazakhstan. The Festival is supported by Kazakh Embassy in USA, Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Los Angeles, Mount Helix Films (www.HelixFilmsInc.com) and the International Press Academy.

Tickets cost $10 (including free parking), and can be purchased from the festival's website, www.kazakhfestival.com. "Kazakhstan: Montage of Cinemas" -  Film & Cultural Festival 2012 will be held Aug. 3 - 9 at the Directors Guild of America on 7920 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, Calif.
